Toddler Craft Ideas





It is not always easy to entertain a toddler. However, with some simple toddler craft ideas, you can keep your toddler entertained for hours. Not only do toddler crafts let them experience some fun time, it also gives them the opportunity to spend one on one time with you. As well, crafting can be an educational process for your toddler while helping develop better hand and eye coordination.

It is important that when you are planning a toddler craft that you make sure you use items for the craft that are non-toxic and kid friendly. Always be sure they are well supervised by a responsible adult. Also, be sure that you pick a craft that is especially designed for a toddler. What may seem like a simple craft, can actually turn into a work of art that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Here is a list of toddler craft activities that are sure to please both parent and toddler alike!





*Painting Crayons: First find an empty oatmeal container. Then, take a plain piece of light colored paper and tape it inside of the oatmeal container. Next, take some old crayons and dip them in paint. Once the crayons are covered in a light layer of paint, you can drop them in the container. Afterwards, put the lid back on the container and have your child shake, rattle and roll with the container. The crayons will move around in the container, leaving you with a one of a kind piece of art.

*Pasta Necklace: Extremely easy and fun to make, you can either dye the pasta yourself or buy pasta that is colored. Next, have your child string the pasta onto a string, so that it can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet. After your little one has completed the necklace or bracelet, then you can tie the ends together and let them enjoy their work of art.

*Tambourines: For this craft, you will need two paper plates, beans or rice, a stapler, sticker, crayon and ribbon. Have you child pour the beans or rice on the plate. Next, staple the two plates together, so that the beans or rice can move around inside. Afterwards, your toddler can decorate the outside of the plate with stickers or by drawing pictures and adding ribbon.

*Themed Place Mats: Simply take a piece of paper and let your toddler draw a picture on it. For Thanksgiving, you could use your toddlers hand print to make a turkey on the paper. For Christmas, you could again use your toddlers hand print, over and over, to create the look of a wreath. You can also let your toddler decorate with stickers and ribbon to make the place mats look more festive. After your little one is done, you can then laminate the place mat. This way, you can use it time and time again. Be sure to label the place mat with your child's name and the date, so that you can cherish it for years to come.

*Handmade Bookmarks: Simply cut a piece of card stock the size of a bookmark. Next, allow your little one to decorate the bookmark with stickers, coloring etc. After your toddler has completed decorating the bookmark, have it laminated. Makes great Christmas gifts for friends and family!
